Sterling Cottage

The Cooper Group restored 69 leaded glass units for the Sterling Law Building. All vintage leaded glass was preserved and built into high performance, insulated glass units while the 3 missing original units were accurately reproduced using thermally broken steel frames.

This product is a period accurate, energy efficient encapsulation of historic leaded glass relics (clear and stained-glass). This can be used for any historic glass application where the goal is to permanently restore while conserving original glass in a historic structure while striving for net zero. Through our encapsulation process, an R1.2 window can be brought to an R10.4 without sacrificing the original glass. Depending on project provisions, The Cooper Group offers Argon or Krypton gas, specialized Eastman’s Coated Mylar Film configurations, different low-E combinations and historical safety or hurricane glass with a SGP/PVB interlayer to block 99.9% UV. These options allow The Cooper Group to evaluate a project and select an appropriate sequence to control how the IGU performs and directionally tune a building with its windows, ultimately saving in energy costs and specifying smaller HVAC equipment.
